Behind the Scenes: How Our Children’s Book Illustrations Come to Life
Every page of Asher’s story starts as a rough sketch. On this page, you can follow how our children’s book illustrations grow, from the first pencil lines to the finished art. You’ll also see how Asher’s character design developed, because every detail was chosen with heart.
The Children Book Artwork Behind “Fear Not”
Each image below shows one step on the journey from rough idea to finished page. Scroll through, and you’ll also see how simple lines became the characters and scenes children love.
First, loose pencil sketches explore who Asher is, including his face, his posture, and how he looks when he feels worried or brave. Next, those drawings are refined into a clear character design, so Asher looks the same from page to page. Then each scene is drafted, because every picture needs to show where the characters stand and what they feel. Finally, color and detail bring the illustration to life.

More Behind the Magic
Every illustration starts with a rough idea. Little by little, the lines get cleaner, the characters take shape, and color brings each moment to life. It’s the same patient process behind the artwork on every page of Fear Not: Asher’s Invisible Shield and the Asher and the Golden Rule books.
