But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

Ask Asher: Do You Have Any Pets?

Jaiden asked Asher a fun question: do you have any pets? Asher’s pets are two dogs, and here is what he said.

“I have two dogs named Maya and Luna. They’re best buddies and love to play fetch and chase each other around the yard.”

Meet Asher’s Pets: Maya and Luna

Maya and Luna sound like they have a lot of fun together. First, they play fetch, which gives them exercise and keeps them busy. Then they chase each other around the yard, because best buddies always want to play. Asher loves having two dogs who are friends, and that is a lot like the friendships he finds in the stories of the Lacrosse Edition.

How Pets Can Teach Kids to Care:

Pets are a great way for kids to practice kindness every day. For example, feeding a dog, filling a water bowl, or taking a walk all show a child how to care for someone else. As a result, children learn patience and responsibility. The Bible also speaks about this, because Proverbs 12:10 says that a good person takes care of their animals.

If your family doesn’t have a pet, you can still talk about caring for animals. Try helping a neighbor, visiting a shelter, or reading a story together.

3 Questions to Ask Your Child About Pets:

  1. If you could have any pet, what would it be, and why?
  2. What does your pet (or a friend’s pet) need every day?
  3. How can we show kindness to animals this week?

Try these at dinner or before bed. Then, send Asher a letter to share your child’s answer.
